Did paralysed man kill wife, son?
A 26-year-old woman and her four-year-old son were found strangled to death at their outer Delhi residence on Thursday night with her “physically challenged” husband claiming responsibility for the twin murders.
Police officials said the woman, identified as Shweta, and her four year old son, Garv, were found strangled to death at their Sector 22 residence in outer Delhi’s Rohini area at around 2 am on Friday when her husband himself made a call to the police control room, claiming that he had killed his wife and son Garv.
The couple had celebrated their sixth marriage anniversary on Thursday night following which an argument had reportedly broken out between them.
“The accused, identified as Nitin, who is paralysed, made a call to the police control room claiming responsibility for the double murder. When a police team reached the house, it found Nitin sitting with the two bodies wrapped in a quilt lying on a bed in a locked room. The police party had to break open the door to enter the room as Nitin had locked it from inside,” a senior police official said.
“Nitin and Shweta got married six years ago. It was a love marriage,” the official said.
“However, three years later, Nitin met an accident which left him paralysed. They were celebrating their marriage anniversary on Thursday night when an argument broke out between them. Although Nitin has confessed to the crime, we are investigating the matter from all angles,” the official added.
Nitin too had suffered some stab injuries which he claimed were self-inflicted.
Meanwhile, Shweta’s family has told the police that someone else might be behind the murder of their daughter and grandson as Nitin was paralysed and he could not have strangulated them.
“Nitin had got insurance money of `21 lakhs earlier and had deposited it in a bank with his wife and son as nominees. He is expected to get some more money,” the official said.
