As an endeavour to pay tribute to educationist, scientist, missile man and former President A.P.J.

As an endeavour to pay tribute to educationist, scientist, missile man and former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his birthday on October 15, the CBSE has decided to start an expression series on him.

The main aim behind this series is to make all its affiliated schools understand the life and ideas of the former President.

The students, after learning the depth of his life, will be required to write essays, poems, and paint on the topic given by the CBSE. The board has also created an app through which the students will be able to take part in the same.

The CBSE has divided students of Classes 1 to 12 into three different categories. The students have to submit their entries in any of the 22 scheduled languages and English either through the online mode or using the mobile app.

“To cater to the need of students of schools of such areas where Internet connectivity is limited, the board has devised a registration-cum-response she-et. This response sheet may be downloaded, printed, and photocopied for distributing to participants. After completion of activity, participants are required to scan it, click an image of the entry, and upload it through link or send through the mobile app,” an official statement said.

The mobile app and online process will be, however, open only for a day. The board will award a cash prize of Rs 2,500 and a merit certificate to the best 36 entries in each category.

The students from Class 1 to 5 have to write essay, poetry, or paint on Dr Kalam’s life and its effect on them, Class 6 to 8 students will do the same on the topic “Dr Kalam — The missile man” and students from Class 9 to 12 on “Dreaming before making your dreams true.”
