The BJP on Sunday alleged that over 500 AAP volunteers are drawing fat pay cheques from the Delhi government.

The BJP on Sunday alleged that over 500 AAP volunteers are drawing fat pay cheques from the Delhi government. Citing an RTI report, the party claimed that the hirings done on co-terminus or contractual basis violate even the “basic rules related to education qualification”.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana said the advisors hired by various Delhi government minister do not enjoy pay parity.

According to him, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s media advisor draws a monthly salary of Rs 1,15,000, while advisors of the tourism minister, deputy CM and law minister gets Rs 1,50,000, Rs 85,000 and Rs 60,000 each month, respectively. Mr Khurana said the AAP government has made 52 such appointments.

“People of Delhi can pretty well understand why Mr Kejriwal’s government rea-cts violently whenever matters of nepotism in appointments come out. It seems today’s revelation give us a reason to understand the frustration with which Delhi CM and his appointee Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) head Swati Maliwal have reacted after the story of nepotism in appointments at DCW got exposed,” BJP leader Jai Prakash said.

BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that co-terminus appointments are made by the Central government, but not without adhering to norms related to educational and salary.
