Four unidentified bike-borne men allegedly robbed two young men in their twenties of Rs 80 lakh while they were on their way to their uncle’s shop near Shakurbasti flyover in West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area on Thursday.

The investigating officer said that the victims, Aman and Shubham, worked for their uncle Ved Prakash, a rice trader at Punjabi Bagh market.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 11am when the duo was heading back from Kohat Enclave to Naya Market with a bag full of cash when their motorcycle was intercepted by four unidentified men on two bikes. As per the statement of the duo, the bike borne men pointed a pistol at them and snatched the bag containing the money and fled from the spot. The two informed their uncle about the robbery, who in turn reported the matter to the police.

The police informed that a case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station against unknown persons. The police is scanning through the CCTV footage of the area to establish the identity of the culprits as well as to establish the exact sequence of events. Meanwhile they are also questioning Aman and Shubham, said an investigating officer.

In another incident, a 24-year-old married woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home in Southwest Delhi's Sarojini Nagar on Thursday, the police said.

The incident was reported around 12.45 pm, the police said, adding that the door was bolted from the inside. However, no injury marks have been found on the victim's body.

Ritu, who hailed from Bihar’s Bhagalpur district, was married to Neeraj who runs a tea-stall in Sarojini Nagar. The couple were married four years ago. She is also survived by a 18-month-old son, the police said. “SDM Vasant Vihar has been informed to conduct inquest proceedings under relevant sections of CrPC into the case,” a police official said.
