Baby taken off ventilator, docs drain pus from brain

The two-year-old battered child was on Friday morning taken off the ventilator after her condition improved “marginally” though she continues to be critical.

“Ventilator support has been removed. She is still critical but marginally better than yesterday. Her culture reports continue to show infection,” said Dr Deepak Aggarwal, neurosurgeon, Trauma Centre. Pus-pockets have been found in the child’s brain, the presence of which is not a good sign, he added.
“We have removed little bit of pus from her brain. Let us see if she responds to medication, if she doesn’t then we might have to do another surgery,” he said.
Admitted in the Intensive Care Unit since January 18, the badly bitten and battered baby girl has already undergone three life-saving surgeries till now.
The police has however not been able to trace Rajkumar, the main accused who is absconding.
