During a meeting with a delegation of guest teachers, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday that all guest teachers in the city would soon be reappointed. He also told the delegation that no guest teacher would lose their job and would also get benefits such as one-day leave every month. Mr Sisodia assured the delegation of the Dilli Atithi Shikshak Sangh that they will get the experience certificate for the years they have taught and those guest teachers who were removed because of transfers and postings of permanent teachers and have not got their reappointment letters, would be reappointed soon.

“The delegation led by Prabhanjan, Sarika Gupta, Nisha Dahiya, Govind, Bhanu Priya, Rahul Malik and Sandeep submitted a memorandum to the deputy chief minister. The deputy CM accepted most of their demands. The guest teachers would now get one-day leave every month. Woman guest teachers would now get redeployment after maternity leave,” an official statement said.

The delegation also demanded that the weightage for guest teachers in fresh teachers recruitment exam be increased from 0.75 per cent to 5 per cent per year. They also said that they must get fixed monthly salary instead of daily wages. The city education minister told them that he would look into the demands. Officials said Mr Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, told the delegation that the guest teachers had contributed a lot in the success of the recently-concluded summer camps. He also said that the guest teachers were given good opportunity in the mentor-teacher scheme.

He assured the delegation that the guest teachers would not be treated in a biased manner.
