A Delhi court on Monday extended by a day the police custody of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, who was arrested by the police for allegedly threatening a woman after she visited his house to raise the issue of powercuts.
Mr Khan was produced before the court of metropolitan magistrate Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan after the expiry of his one-day custody. The police sought his custody for two more days, saying that the accused was needed to be interrogated that he was not cooperating in the investigation. The court after hearing the submission of the police extended the custody of Mr Khan only for a day.

“Submissions heard. Record perused. In view of the submission made by the parties and considering that offence under section 308 of IPC (attempt to commit culpable homicide) is alleged, I am of the view that the accused be remanded to police custody for one day with direction to cooperate in the investigation,” the magistrate said.
Senior advocate H.S. Phoolka argued that Mr Khan had been falsely implicated.
