Three management students were among seven people killed when their SUV rammed into two motorcycles and overturned near Jindal Nagar area of Ghaziabad on Monday.

Two other BBA students were also critically injured in the accident, police said, adding that the SUV was being driven by one of the students who lost control over the wheels and hit the bikes, the police said. Five college students — Mayank, Sakshi, Rohit, Kapil and Divya (all in their twenties) — pursuing BBA at a private college were coming to Ghaziabad from Hapur in an Scorpio when the accident took place, Masuri assistant superintendent of police said.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the SUV was being driven at a very high speed and it rammed into two motorcycles, overturned and fell into a pit after hitting the road divider near Jindal Nagar. According to the police, the SUV first hit a motorcycle killing Bhopal Chauhan (35) and his wife Sunita (33) on the spot. They belonged to nearby Hafizpur village.

After that the vehicle smashed another motorcycle killing two Hapur residents — Titu Singh (30) and Satish (30).

After hitting the bikes, the SUV overturned. Two car occupants, Mayank and Sakshi, also died on the spot. Kapil, Divya and Rohit were pulled out of the mangled car in critical condition and rushed to a nearby hospital.

Kapil died on way when he was being shifted to a private hospital in Noida by his family members. All the seven bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, the police officer said. An FIR has been registered at Masuri police station.
