The Delhi police has arrested two men in connection with death threat to JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and his fellow JNU student Umar Khalid. The threat was detailed in a letter kept in a bag along with a loaded country-made pistol that was found in a DTC bus on Thursday. The bus operates on a route between Kashmere Gate ISBT and the JNU campus.

The two accused, identified as Saurabh and Sulabh, are both in their twenties. They were arrested after they were called for questioning by the police at the Tilak Marg police station. They were produced before a court on Sunday, which sent them to two-day police custody.

However, the main conspirator, identified by the police as Amit Jani, who reportedly is a national pr-esident of UP Navnirman Sena, is absconding. The police is conducting raids in Delhi-NCR to nab him.

Sources said Saurabh had made a PCR call after keeping the bag in the bus. He was accompanied by Sulabh and both fled after calling the police, said the sources. Both the men have been booked under the Arms Act and criminal conspiracy.

The bag contained a two-line note claiming that th-ey will behead Mr Kumar and Mr Khalid, both doctoral students at the university. The letter was also purportedly signed by Ja-ni, but was written by so-meone else, said a source.
