Quinton de Kock slammed his tenth ODI hundred as South Africa defeated England in the third of the five-match ODI series in Centurion on Tuesday. The win also helped the hosts to stay alive in the series after England had won the first two games.
De Kock, who scored 135 off 117 balls and partnered Hashim Amla (127 runs off 130 balls) for 239-run opening partnership, won the Man of the Match award as South Africa breezed past England’s 319-run total.
On his way to the match-winning hundred, de Kock also surpassed Virat Kohli’s record to score fastest ten ODI tons.
The Indian batsman had taken eighty innings to score ten ODI hundreds while the diminutive South African wicketkeeper and opener achieved that feat merely in fifty five innings; twenty five innings less than Kohli.

Quinton de Kock, in October last year, had surpassed Kohli to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring eight ODI tons before turning 23.
Before turning 23, Kohli had seven hundreds against his name in the 50-overs cricket; one less than de Kock.
While India’s Test captain is considered as one of the best modern day batsmen, Quinton de Kock is making a habit of beating Kohli to certain landmarks.
