A sodden outfield has prevented play before lunch on the second day of the fourth and final Test between the West Indies and India at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad on Friday.

After two inspections of the outfield following torrential rain on Thursday and overnight, the umpires scheduled another inspection for 1 p.m. Local time (1700 GMT).

Rain and a saturated field had limited play to just 22 overs on the opening day on Thursday.

Earlier, India removed two West Indies batsmen — Leon Johnson and Dareen Bravo — even as rain and wet outfield hampered proceedings on day one.

This was after the toss had been delayed by 30 minutes, on account of showers.

Karigg Brathwaite (32) and Marlon Samuels (4) were at the crease for the hosts when rain halted play. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0/13) and Mohammed Shami (0/14) started off proceedings after the hosts elected to bat, half an hour past the scheduled time with the session timings adjusted accordingly.

Under overcast conditions, the two pacers got enough purchase with the new ball and squared up both batsmen on more than a couple occasions from both ends.

Scoreboard West Indies 1st innings 62/2 in 22 overs (K. Brathwaite batting 32, M. Samuels batting 4; Sharma 1/7, Ashwin 1/22) vs India
