Jamaica

: Leading the four-match Test series 1-0, India received a big blow after Murali Vijay on Friday was ruled out of the second Test against West Indies. The second India-Windies Test will commence on Saturday at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

The star Indian opener, who has been one of Team India’s consistent performers since last couple of years in Test cricket, inured his thumb during the Antigua Test which India won by an innings and 92 runs.

Vijay, who tried to evade a bouncer, was hit by a Shannon Gabriel delivery.

While Vijay, after receiving a nasty blow on the first morning of the first Test, did not take the field in the first test after the injury, it was expected that he would play the second Test.

Vijay batted for a while in the nets on Wednesday but skipped the optional practice session on Thursday.

However, he could not recover from the injury he sustained in the first Test.

While there is no clarification about his replacement in the Jamaica Test, KL Rahul is likely to replace the Tamil Nadu batsman in the playing XI.
