Four accused were injured when a major fight broke out between under-trails inside Arthur Road Jail at Central Mumbai on Monday.

Four accused were injured when a major fight broke out between under-trails inside Arthur Road Jail at Central Mumbai on Monday.

According to NM Joshi Marg police officials, the incident took place at around 8.45 am, in which Muddassar Ismail Ansari (30), Sarvar Maksud Khan (32) and Suleman Mehmood Patel allegedly assaulted Vishal Chndrashekar Amkar (31) and Murgan Mani Nadar (52). The accused attacked the victim with a kapri (a sharp weapon made from the aluminium plate used by prisoners to eat food).

DCP (Operations) Sangramsingh Nishandar said, “The injured Amkar sustained injuries to both his cheeks, chest, left thigh while Murgan Nadar suffered injuries from his lower lips to chest. The reason for the fight is being probed. We have registered a case against the undertrials at NM Joshi Marg police station and further investigations are on.” The authorities used force to stop the fighting. The injured have been admitted to JJ Hospital.

Ansari was arrested by Agripada police in a robbery case, Khan was arrested in Byculla by the Kherwadi police for robbery and Patel was arrested by ATS Mumbai in an Arms Act case. Amkar was arrested in a murder case by Wadala TT police and Nadar was arrested over theft cases.
