The Toyota Vios has been spotted testing in India. The Vios was expected to be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo; however, Toyota avoided that. This sedan has been anticipated to launch in India for a long time. The Japanese automaker is getting approvals for the Vios and once it's done, it will take another five to eight months for the car to be launched here which makes it around late 2017 or early 2018. The C-segment sedan will compete with the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna in the Indian market. aa The Vios spotted was not camouflaged, but did have all the Toyota badges hidden under a tape. We have to admit that the car looks good, especially the long wrap around taillights and the Corolla Altis-inspired front. The spied unit did not have projector headlamps, fog lamps, or even LED daytime running lights, but the final production model will sport all of these. The later generations of this sedan will be inspired by the Camry in terms of design. In fact, a new model of the Vios is already available in the international markets. aa Vios will use the same engines as the Etios sedan – 1.4-litre diesel and 1.5-litre petrol – the tuning of which will be altered to extract better performance. In terms of dimensions, the Vios is 4,410mm long, 1,700 mm wide and 1,475 tall, which makes it smaller than its rivals like the Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Ciaz. This could mean that the cabin space might be a little restricted but if engineered cleverly (which Toyota usually does) it will be on par with its Indian rivals. Prices for the Vios are expected to start from Rs 8 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 11 lakh.
