Most automakers are resorting to touchscreen infotainment systems for a better user experience and a clutter-free dashboard. Picking up the cue, Ford has begun R&D for a touchscreen system for the Figo and Aspire. It is likely to be included in the updated features list for the facelift that is due in 2018. Other than the Ford Endeavour, no other Ford car gets a touchscreen infotainment system at the moment.

Equipping the Figo and the Aspire with a touchscreen would mean redesigning the dashboard. This might be why Ford wants to wait until the facelift to reveal the same. The current models come equipped with SYNC and AppLink. The SYNC system lets you pair your smartphone to make calls, use text-to-speech technology, and play music by using voice commands. In the event of an accident, the system will automatically call emergency services and share your GPS location. The AppLink system allows you to access apps on your paired smartphone by voice commands.

Competing with the Figo Aspire, the Volkswagen Ameo and the Tata Zest have a touchscreen infotainment system on offer. On the other hand, the Tata Bolt which competes with the Figo also offers a touchscreen infotainment unit. Seeing how the trend is picking up, soon most of the cars will come equipped with one.
