Halwa Ceremony kickstarts Budget 2017 process

Mumbai: Weeks ahead of presentation of Union Budget 2017-18 in Parliamnet, Finance Ministry on Thursday said that printing of documents related to Budget 2017-18 will start today with observing of its customary Halwa Ceremony.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley along with officials at the ministry participated in the Ceremony that every year kickstarts process of preparation of budget documents.

As part of Halwa Ceremony, Finance Ministry prepares and serves the popular Indian sweet to its employees who prepare budget documents.

“After Halwa Ceremony, more than 100 officials of Finance Ministry will stay in budget printing press till Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s budget speech is over,” the Ministry said.
