Italian motorcycle brand Ducati gave us a quick glimpse of its upcoming bike in a restricted preview during the 2016 World Ducati Week (WDW) in Misano. However, someone managed to click pictures of the Ducati SuperSport when it was accidentally revealed while being taken into the preview room. Now, Ducati has officially announced that it will unveil the bike along with its S version at the International Motorcycle, Scooter and E-Bike Fair in Cologne, Germany, on October 4.

As described by Paolo Quattrino, product manager, Ducati, at the 2016 WDW, the Ducati SuperSport 939 has been built around the chassis of the Monster. However, it has been tweaked a bit for a little aggressive handling around the corners. Powering the bike is the Hypermotard's 939cc, liquid-cooled, L-twin which has been altered with electronic tuning. We can, however, say that it is a new engine, as 80 per cent of the components in it are new. Even the mountings have been changed to use the motor as a stressed element in the frame.

Ducati has confirmed that the Supersport and Supersport S are going to be unveiled at the 2016 INTERMOT motorcycle show in Germany, next month.

The upcoming Ducati SuperSport looks much inspired by the track-focused Panigale range. However, it will be a sport tourer with a much-relaxed riding position and performance. Once launched, the bike will compete with machines like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000F.
