The name’s a dead giveaway of what it is, isn’t it? It is a stretched version of Mahindra’s sub-4 metre SUV, the TUV300 that the carmaker says can seat nine passengers! To ensure it doesn’t feel dead while lugging the extra weight and passengers around, Mahindra has dived into the Scorpio’s parts bin. The TUV300 Plus is packing in the 2.2-litre mHawk engine, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. And while the Scorpio got a power bump (and now develops 140PS/320Nm), the TUV300 Plus makes 120PS and 320Nm. Mahindra’s “micro-hybrid” tech along with brake energy regeneration is offered as well.

As far as features are concerned, the equipment list isn’t too different compared to the “smaller” TUV. The Plus gets 16-inch alloy wheels (from the NuvoSport), faux leather upholstery, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, a reverse camera and a six-speaker audio system. On the safety front, the nine-seater gets dual airbags and anti-lock brakes on the P6 and P8 variants. In this day and age, it's surprising that this isn't standard!
