Both the motorcycles are meant for strict track usage and can't be registered as a normal road-going motorcycle.

In order support motocross adventures, Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki will be launching the KX250 and the KX100 in India on December 18. Both the motorcycles are meant for strict track usage and can't be registered as a normal road-going motorcycle. Both the bikes miss lights, number plates, leg guards, and have trail rated tyres.

The KX250 is a famous motorcycle among members of the motorcycle rallying community, thanks to the numerous titles that it has brought to its riders over the years. The bike is powered by a four-stroke 249cc water-cooled single-cylinder motor, which produces enough juices to rip the dirt a few meters up in the sky. The motorcycle features inverted telescopic Showa SFF forks upfront with 40-way spring preload adjustability and 22-position compression and 20-position rebound damping adjustability. The swingarm is suspended via a Uni-Trak linkage system with Showa shock, which can be adjusted in a plethora of settings, depending upon the conditions.

The KX250 is bestowed with oversized front disc rotors (270mm diameter) to make up for its more than ample stopping power. The handlebar can be adjusted to suit the rider’s height and so can the footpegs, in order to achieve optimum knee angle when seated. The KX250 gets an aluminium perimeter frame chassis to achieve better stress-bearing standards, all the while keeping the weight as low as possible (approximately 105 kg, dry).

The KX100, as opposed to the KX250, uses a 99cc two-stroke single-cylinder water-cooled motor. The tiny engine is tied to a steel perimeter frame, despite which the dry weight is well under 80kg. The bike is suited for young riders who wish to make a career in the motocross world. The bike features 36mm inverted telescopic cartridge forks with 20-way adjustability. The rear suspension duties are taken care of by a Uni-Trak single shock unit with 24-way compression and 21-way rebound damping adjustability.

If you are concerned about the price, then let me tell you that both the bikes will be far from being reasonable, courtesy the heavy import duties levied on CBUs (Completely Built Units). The KX100 is priced at $4,599 (around Rs 3.10 lakh), whereas the KX250 is priced at $7,749 (approximately Rs 5.22 lakh) in the USA. So, expect a significant bump in these figures when the motorcycles land in India.
