Actor Vicky Kaushal, who is playing a gritty cop in Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Raman Raghav had a surreal moment on the first day of the film’s shoot that took him back to his days as an AD .

Before making his critically acclaimed debut in Masaan, Vicky was working as an AD on the sets of Gangs Of Wasseypur. And now, just five years down the line, the actor is already in his third film and is working with Nawazuddin as his co-star.

Talking about his experience of working with Nawaz, Vicky says, “I had the most surreal moment on the first day of the shoot. I was an AD in Wasseypur and I used to give call time and claps for the shot to Nawaz Bhai. The first day after rehearsing, when we went to give the shot, it just hit me how far I’ve come. I am fortunate and lucky to be acting in a film with Nawaz bhai. It suddenly took me five years back in time when I was on the set as an AD. He is a great actor but he makes you feel so comfortable. He doesn’t let you get intimidated by him. After pack up, we chill together and he shares stories about his NSD (National School of Drama) days and his struggle.”

Vicky also told us about how Kashyap was skeptical about casting him for the role. “Anurag sir called me and told me ‘I am thinking of you for this role but I am also skeptical. It’s a very gritty and intense role. You haven’t gone through anything like what the character goes through in the film in your life, so it will be a challenging role for you to play’. But Anurag sir has seen my growth and he is the one person who is aware of what’s happening in my life. I am glad that he gave me this opportunity and the moment I was signed I knew I had to bring my A-game to the table,” he adds.
