Internet trollers can’t seem to draw the line as far as Aamir shaming goes. The last few days were spent churning out what seems like a hundred memes and Whatsapp forwards ridiculing his statement at a recent awards function, raising concerns about the tolerance levels in society. The actor had spoken about his conversation with wife Kiran Rao, discussing the threat that free speech faces today.

One would have expected the wave of backlash to die down after a few days, but we were unpleasantly surprised to discover the rigour with which the trollers are at it. On Saturday, a website called slapaamir.com popped up on our social media feed — possibly as an offshoot of the statement that a certain overly zealous member of a political party made the day before — he offered `1 lakh to anybody who agreed to slap the star.

The website slapaamir.com basically has an image of Aamir Khan and that of a hand, all very poorly Photoshopped. When you drag the cursor to take the hand close to Aamir’s face to slap his image, what follows is a loud sound of a slap while an animated Aamir broods, cringes and bleeds as the count of the slaps go up. The expressions of Aamir have been borrowed from films, such as Ghulam, Dil Chahta Hai, PK, Andaz Apna Apna and so on. At the time of going to press, the rapidly increasing slap count clocked a score of over 20,000.
