Rajini Sir is the only ‘Superstar’

Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar has often openly declared his admiration for South Indian superstar and his soon to be co-star Rajinikant.

Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar has often openly declared his admiration for South Indian superstar and his soon to be co-star Rajinikant. However, the actor proclaimed Rajini’s undisputed claim over the ‘Superstar’ epithet in an altogether different fashion at a recent event.

The actor, who was launching a brand he endorses, took to the stage after the MC addressed him as ‘Superstar Akshay Kumar’ and quickly clarified, “The lady here announced my name as Superstar. But there is only one Superstar in the country and that is Rajinikanth Sir.” The roaring crowd gave him a thunderous applause for the comment.

Akshay spoke about sharing the screen with Rajini in his debut Tamil movie 2.0, his fitness secret, what is it like to be a celebrity and his favourite food in a quick chat.

“It is a honour working with Rajini sir in a proper Tamil movie and it is like a dream come true! I am very happy about it and am eagerly awaiting the response of his fans after its release. And I want to be part of more south Indian films,” expressed Akshay.

Reacting to a question about what is it like to be a celebrity, he replied, “Being a celebrity There are no cons, and anyone would love to be in my shoes. There are only pros. This goes for any profession you are in. If you take it up with passion, there will be only pros (laughs).”

Sharing his fitness secret, he says, “Happiness and good food are the secret of my fit body. I always insist on having dinner before sunset and not eating anything after that. One should workout at least one hour a day.” He further added with a grin, “if you cannot give one hour to your body in 24 hours, you should kill yourself!”

Telling us about the change in the way women are portrayed on the screen and the emergence of more women-centric films, he says, “I think things are changing now. It used to be different earlier. For example, Kajol is still doing movies. And not only that we are seeing lot of women-centric films emerging these days.”
