Not a Dutt film remake

Bhatts’ upcoming venture Blood Money is being touted as the remake of Mahesh Bhatt’s 90s superhit Naam that starred Sanjay Dutt in the lead. The film was about a young man who goes abroad in search of better job prospects but ends up getting involved with the underworld. “Blood Money too has a similar storyline set in a more contemporary backdrop. This time it’s Kunal Khemu (who plays the lead) who gets trapped and by the time he realises he’s in deep waters, it’s already too late,” says a source.
Kunal, however, denies the allegation. “We are not saying that the Blood Money tells a story that has never been heard before. But it’s not ‘inspired’ by any film, we have tried to keep the story as original as possible,” he says.
The actor isn’t fazed by such talks at all. He continues, “There are some people who even think that it is a remake of Blood Diamond, just because it has the word ‘blood’ in it. But the buck stops there. That film was set on a warfront, while ours deals with the corporate world.”
