Priyanka Chopra, who was in Mumbai for a day to promote Bajirao Mastani, took time off to address questions on the most bandied word in recent times — intolerance. Priyanka said, “I don’t think intolerance is about me as an actor or you as a journalist. Look at what is happening all around. Look at the wars happening around. I am going to name Paris, Syria, Lebanon and even Mumbai (in the context of intolerance). Just for one second sit down and look around at the world we are living in, everything is intolerant. Are we not the globe Are we not saying that this person is wrong because his religion is wrong or this person is wrong because he is going to a concert What is happening ”

She addressed the social media hate brigade when she said, “Don’t go out on social media and use your anonymity to blast out at people because you can. Sit in your homes and think about our opinion. Our forefathers fought for democracy, they fought years of British Raj so that we could have freedom of speech. Even in America right now, in an interview somebody said, ‘you know, women of colour are coming in’. I don’t want to be called a woman of colour, I am a woman. If you want to divide, say man and woman — brown, black, yellow, what’s wrong with us I am travelling the world right now and I am seeing it (intolerance) everywhere.”
