Dhanush makes a hushed trip to Varanasi

After the unforeseen success of Kolaveri Di, Dhanush seems ready to move on at last. The singer-actor, who has signed his first Hindi film Raanjhanaa, was recently spotted in the holy city of Varanasi. It was a hushed trip and he was only there to gain a deeper understanding of life in the ghats of Varanasi, to help him prepare for his character in the film.
This was the actor’s first brush with a live preparatory workshop. Says the film’s director Anand L. Rai of Tanu Weds Manu fame, “I wanted Dhanush to get a flavour of what he is expected to do in Raanjhanaa. It also helped me understand how well he fits into the backdrop I have in mind for his character. He was very comfortable interacting with the locals and spent some quality time with the saadhus at the ghats. We’re going to revisit soon.”
After his wild bout of kolaveri, maybe this soul searching trip was just what Dhanush needed.
