Lasso lets users record short and fun videos with synchronised music.

In order to get onboard the platform, one can simply sign in using Facebook and Instagram.

The short video platform, led by musical.ly and TikTok, has been one of the most hyped places for teens to hang out in the digital world. However, Facebook — the daddy of the social media scene, has been wanting to step into the arena for a while and they are ready to fire their first salvo at the established ones. Their app is called Lasso.

Lasso in concept is pretty similar to TikTok or any of the multiple platforms that let users create short videos and share them on their timeline. Users can record themselves dancing and lip-syncing to music, just like how it happens on TikTok. However, one can also record short clips like Vines.

In an interview to The Verge, Facebook said that “Lasso is a new standalone app for short-form, entertaining videos — from comedy to beauty to fitness and more. We’re excited about the potential here, and we’ll be gathering feedback from people and creators.”

In order to get onboard the platform, one can simply sign in using Facebook and Instagram, where Lasso will gain access to all the information it requires from these two platforms. Users will able to scroll through content as they do on TikTok, but they will be able to share them on their Facebook feeds as Stories and will later get to do the same on Instagram.

Lasso is presently available to download in the US and should open to the Indian users soon enough.
