A leaked Android Pie ROM for the Xiaomi MI A2 has been leaked, hinting at an imminent launch.

Since it’s an official Android Pie ROM, you can easily try it out before Xiaomi unveils the stable build.

Not long ago, Xiaomi announced the Mi A2 — the successor to their first Android One device for the global markets. At the time, the Mi A2 came out with a stock build of Android Oreo 8.1 with a few Xiaomi apps preloaded. However, Android Pie was released around that time and most other Android One devices have already been sitting on Android Pie for a while. It seems that Xiaomi doesn’t want its Android One model to bog down and therefore, could be releasing the Pie build soon for the Mi A2.

Folks at XDA have uncovered a leaked build of Android Pie that’s supposed to be a beta version of Android 9 for the Mi A2. The build brings along most of the Android Pie features that Pixel users have been experiencing for the past few months. The beta version presently includes Adaptive Battery, which uses machine learning to manage the resources utilised by apps and save power accordingly. The UI also gets a major overhaul while users will get the option to choose between the standard three-button navigation layout or the new gesture navigation system from Android Pie. Apart from these, we can also expect other highlight features such as Digital Wellbeing and Slices to make their way to the Mi A2.

Since it’s an official Android Pie ROM, you can easily try it out before Xiaomi unveils the stable build. However, it is advisable to install the beta ROM only if you have a fair amount of experience in flashing ROMs manually and don’t mind some considerable amount of bugs. Monitoring the progress, the Mi A2 could be getting the stable version of Pie before the year ends, just like last year’s Oreo rollout for Mi A1.
