The open-source Android platform is vulnerable to various malware and Trojans as it is based on Linux. Developers of such harmful programs often put up attractive apps or games with malicious programs embedded inside. Google has to constantly monitor the PlayStore for such apps or games and remove it to prevent its users from falling into trouble. Recently, Roman Unuchek from Kaspersky Lab pointed out a game on the PlayStore to contain a nasty Trojan.

The Colourblock game contained a Trojan that had the ability to root an Android device and inject malicious codes into the system library. Called Dvmap, it would install other malicious apps from around the web and infect the device with lots of software trash and malware.

However, the funny thing about this Trojan-infected game was that it was never successful in asking servers to send malicious software to the device. This indicated that the developers of the Trojan were in their early stages and were improving the code over time to get the Trojan work. The developers of the game had uploaded multiple versions of the game to the PlayStore in order to try and make the Trojan deliver positive results for them.

This also brings to notice the credibility of all apps and games on the PlayStore. We urge Android users to avoid downloading an app or game blindly from the PlayStore. It is always recommended to go through the ratings and review of a particular app before giving it space on your Android device.
