Hey Apple where is the AirPower?

Apple’s wireless charging mat is yet to make an appearance.

Apple seems to have erased almost all mention of the AirPower from its official website.

At the Apple iPhone X unveiling back in 2017, the brand announced a wireless charging mat that could simultaneously charge an iPhone, an Apple Watch and a special AirPods case, that latter of which is currently yet to debut. It now appears that Apple has shelved plans to release such a product.

When the AirPower was announced, Apple claimed that it would launch in 2018, and with the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, all being announced, the wireless charger has still not seen the light of day. Apple still has around three and a half months more to still deliver on its promise of launching the product in 2018 but it is looking increasingly unlikely.

A point of note that’s quite concerning is that Apple seems to have erased almost all mention of the AirPower from its official website. The product details are absolutely nowhere to be found and the only live link that features this wireless charger is on Apple’s legal trademark list and a mention on the Apple AirPods page about an optional wireless charging case.

As of now, Apple is yet to detail any information regarding the AirPower’s absence or why the brand is taking so long to sell it.

Apple could have run into some difficulties in the manufacturing process that allows multiple devices to charge at a time, or the brand needs some extra software integration on top of the Qi wireless standard that appears to be complicated to execute.

Several third-party manufacturers have sprung up that offer a wireless charging solution and it leaves Apple customers with plenty of choices. One thing is for certain, whatever the case may be, Apple should iron out the kinks with its AirPower in order to ship it before the year ends.
