Kadhe, Bhosale, Banthia are No. 1 in MSLTA 2017 year-end rankings

Mihika Yadav (Girls’ Under 18), Aryaan Bhatia (Boys’ Under 16) and Prerna Vichare (Girls’ Under 16) were the three No 1 players from Mumbai region.

National Sub-Junior Champion Rutuja Chaphalkar along with India No. 5 Men’s player Arjun Kadhe, India No. 4 Women’s player Rutuja Bhosale, India No. 1 junior Siddhant Banthia, emerged as No. 1 ranked Maharashtra tennis players in their age groups for the year 2017.

Mihika Yadav, Aryaan Bhatia, Prerna Vichare, Arjun  Gohad , Manas  Dhamne, Neel Joglekar, Madhurima Sawant  and Asmi Adkar were the other players to emerge No. 1.

The annual rankings of the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association for the year 2017 were announced by the hon. secretary of MSLTA, Sunder Iyer, on Monday after the   MSLTA Ranking Committee meeting. The large number of events coupled with quality national and international level events have helped our state players to also improve ranking on the national level, said Mr Iyer.

Pune region took the honours by finishing with nine No. 1 players in Maharashtra in 2017 which include Arjun Kadhe (Men’s Singles), Rutuja Bhosale (Women’s Singles), Siddhant Banthia (Boys Under 18), Rutuja Chaphalkar (Girls Under 14), Arjun Gohad (Boys’ Under 14) Madhurima Sawant (Girls’ Under 12), Manas Dhamne (Boys’ Under 12), Neel Joglekar (Boys’ Under 10) and Asmi Adkar (Girls’ Under 10).

In 2017 MSLTA Conducted over 150 tournaments highest by far than any other state on the AITA Calendar  which consisted of  10 International events, 93 AITA ranked events  (which included the Under 12,14,16,3 Nationals, 5 National Series  tournaments, 4 Super Series, 46  Championship Series, 19  Talent Series)  7 Mens and Womens National ranking events, 32 Under 10 State Ranking events along with 4 Veteran events and The All Maharashtra Inter-Club Champi-onships, Junior Tennis League, Road to MSLTA events at the district level

While Mumbai region hosted 52 events including one international event, Pune Region  hosted 19 events which included six international events the highest in the country, Kolhapur region hosted 23 events, Navi Mumbai hosted six events including one international event, Nagpur region hosted 8 events, Aurangabad region 11 events, Solapur  region three events including one international event  and Nashik region 8 events. “The Top 3 players in each group will be felicitated by the MSLTA on May   in Mumbai  at the hands of Dr Jurgen  Morhard Consul General of Germany and Mrs Petra Morhard,”    the release further stated.
