Maharashtra’s top women’s player and India No. 6 Divya Deshpande scored an emphatic win in the Women’s Singles match but couldn’t help her side High Tide to victory in the Axis Bank Mumbai table tennis Super League (MSL) 2018 here on Wednesday.

Divya thrashed Shalmali Mhatre of MTC Royals 3-0 but ended up on the losing side as High Tide could muster only three wins out of the nine different fixtures against the Royals. Divya herself struggled in the Mixed Doubles clash in the company of Shubham Ambre, losing to Shalmali Mhatre and Nishad Shah 1-2.

High Tide lost the Veterans’ Singles, the Mixed Junior Boy/Junior Girl, Cadet Boys, Mixed Doubles, Junior Girls and the Doubles Veteran/Men matches. They, however, won the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles and Junior Boys to finish the tie by winning 11 and losing 16 games.

For MTC Royals, veteran player Prakash Kelkar did the star turn, winning his Veteran’s Singles match and partnering with Nishad Shah to claim the Doubles Veteran/Men’s match.
