The Maharastra junior No 1 billiards & snooker player Rayaan was engaged in a grim battle for supremacy and closely lost the opening two frames.

Radio Club’s Rayaan Razmi fought back to overcome Carl Serrao of Dadar Club 3-2 in a keenly contested Senior Billiards best-of-5-frames (race to 100 points) Group-D league match of the Maharashtra State Senior Snooker & Billiards Selection (leg-1) Championship in Pune.

The Maharastra junior No 1 billiards & snooker player Rayaan was engaged in a grim battle for supremacy and closely lost the opening two frames. But he fought back and staged a great recovery by winning the next three frames on the trot to clinch a deserving win with the frames scores reading 97-100, 79-100, 100-80, 100-82 and 100-42 in his favour.

Pune qualifier Vignesh Sanghvi produced a brilliant steady performance and outplayed Rajeev Sharma of Malabar Hill Club, Mumbai 3-0 (100-57, 100-44, 100-73) in his opening Group-D encounter.

Meanwhile, qualifier Kreishh Gurbaxani of Khar Gymkhana won both his matches in Group-A. He first defeated Otters Club’s Rishabh Thakkar 3-2 (100-63, 35-100, 48-100, 100-50, 100-69). Kreishh later returned to the table and tamed Anand Raghuvanshi of Hindu Gymkhana 3-0 100-64, 100-68, 100-90) and is assured of qualifying for the knockout phase of the competition.
