‘Govt will speed up the project via pvt sector’

Cabinet appro-ved the financial aid of Union and state government to the projects, which will be implemented through the corporation.

Mumbai: The state government has decided to implement the housing projects under PPP (Public Private Partnership) and in the joint venture. The Union and state government has given many facilities for the projects and the beneficiaries. The housing department, Mhada and all local bodies are implementing the scheme. The government has decided to give 2.5 floor space index (FSI) in the residential zone and one FSI in the green or no development zone. Cabinet appro-ved the financial aid of Union and state government to the projects, which will be implemented through the corporation.

“It is very difficult to achieve the target of providing affordable housing to all, if government will only depend upon Mhada, CIDCO and other government agencies. Now government will accelerate the projects through mostly by private sector. Mega projects through corporation will be implemented like township development projects and common people will get affordable homes,” cleared officials of the housing department.

A senior minister said, “Though opposition and others may slam the government as ‘Pro Builder’, as extra FSI and other facilities will be given for accelerating the projects. But we have no option considering the elections next year.”
