To prevent the occurrence of swine flu, the government has embarked upon a five-point strategy of survey, diagnosis, treatment, vaccination and public awareness.

Mumbai: The state health minister said that a comprehensive five-point (survey, diagnosis, treatment, vaccination and public awareness) action plan is being carried out to prevent swine flu. So far, 145 patients are being treated for the disease.

To prevent the occurrence of swine flu, the government has embarked upon a five-point strategy of survey, diagnosis, treatment, vaccination and public awareness.

Health minister Eknath Shinde said, “To generate mass awareness about swine flu cases, various media should be used besides group meetings, workshops, awareness campaigns at the school level, yatras, festivals and health education at weekly markets etc.”

“Comprehensive programmes should be implemented. I have issued directives to health officials of the department, municipal corporations and zilla parishads,” he said.

Information should be given regarding the spre-ad of the disease, symptoms, preventive measures and steps to arrest its spread. Similarly, in all secondary schools, nurses, health workers etc. should guide them.

From January till date, 3.50 lakh patients have been examined. Out of them, 4,000 patients have been administered Tammy flu tablets.
