Mumbai: The Shiv Sena on Tuesday attacked the BJP, saying that the party had come to power using the Hindutva ladder but abandoned it once its purpose was met.
Accusing the BJP of “stabbing Hindutva in the back” by breaking its alliance with the Sena prior to the 2014 Lok Sabha (LS) elections, Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray alleged that not a single promise made to Hindus had been fulfilled till date.
In an editorial in the party mouthpiece Saamana, Mr Thackeray said that the Congress flattered Muslims for many years but the BJP, instead of “cajoling” Hindus, was bent on making them secular. “The Hindus are disappointed as BJP used them the way Congress used Muslims. None of the promises made to Hindus has been fulfilled by the BJP; be it Ram temple or uniform civil code. The country’s journey from the Congress to the Congress has begun,” he said.
“Those who aggressively spoke for Hindutva and the country were termed enemies by the BJP. Fake Hindutvavadis in power want to silence an aggressive Hindutva’s voice and finish Hindus by terming them terrorists,” the Shiv Sena chief said.
