Mumbai: The Shiv Sena slammed the state and Central government and over load-shedding.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray alleged that load-shedding was started across the state due to the government’s mismanagement.

The Maharashtra State Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has been carrying out load-shedding of 3,000MW across the state for a few hours since the past two days.

Opposition parties and the Shiv Sena slammed the Union and Maharashtra government over the issue, as BJP leaders and ministers have been praising the state government’s performance.

Mr Thackeray asked why has such a situation arisen in the state if the Union government is supplying enough coal? “It was the responsibility of the state government also to factor in the increase in demand due to the October heat, Mr Thackeray said in the party mouthpiece Saamana.

“In a draught situation across the state and during the festival season at that, the MSEDCL has started load-shedding. Farmers can’t water their crops as there is no electricity for more than nine hours a day. Why has the government not taken steps to prevent this situation,” asked Mr Thackeray.

He added, “MSEDCL is claiming that the load-shedding is temporary, but there is no guarantee.”
