Mumbai: Mumbaikars will get card-based Integrated Ticket System (ITS), which will be later converted into an account-based ticketing system. As per suggestions from bidders Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) decided to change the mode for ITS ticketing system from an account-based system to a card-based system.

The ITS will be introduced in the Metro, Monorail and BEST and later it would be implemented in all public transport utilities.

After the Central government’s one-nation-one-card plan, the MMRDA decided to implement an integrated ticketing system for all transport utilities.

The decision for ITS implementation was taken in 2018. “The system for account-based ticketing was all set to activate. After suggestions from bidders, the MMRDA decided to shift ticketing system to card,” said an official.

The tendering procedure will be completed by March 15, after which the card-based ticketing system will be implemented.
