Kolkata: A youth was arrested by the police for allegedly posing as a Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) officer.
Debarshan Mitra, the accused, had introduced himself as a deputy secretary (RAW) of the national security council secretariat to a woman to lure her into marriage which was later found to be fake.
His arrest came after a woman from Suri in Birbhum lodged a complaint against him with the Bidhannagar North police station on Tuesday.
She stays at AA Block in Sector I in Salt Lake. She married Debarshan on February 20 this year. She moved with him to his flat at Malanncha Abasan at Block- C1 on BT Road.
Finding Debarshan going out of the flat at night to stay elsewhere, often when she asked him his purpose, he tortured her.
The woman also accused him of stopping her from contacting her family members during her stay there.
She told the police that she found their marriage registry certificate and his job fake.
