Music Oceania to kickstart in December

Kolkata: It promises to be a seamless confluence of rhythm, lyrics and music from different parts of the world. Come December 13, 14 and 17 and as many as four Grammy award winners and three other popular musicians are expected to enthrall the connoisseurs of music in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai with their scintillating fusion music.

Organised by Kolkata-based Golden Deer Creations and Entertainment (GDCEPL), the musical journey, aptly called Music Oceania, will see table maestro Sandeep Das, Grammy Award winner (Best World Music album with Yo Yo Ma and Silk Road Ensemble) in 2017, Wu Tong, the Grammy award winner sheng and bawu player from China, Michael Glen Block, another Grammy winner American cellist, singer and composer, Cella Wood Smith, Grammy nominated performer and song writer from the US, Matt Small Bio, famed bass player and composer from San Francisco, Hanneke Cassel, leading musician from Port Oxford, Oregon and Irina Solinas, a specialist in chamber music from Italy, sharing the stage.

Star attraction is expecyed to be Das, an alumnus of BHU and now settled in the US. He has performed with major symphony orchestras, string quartets, jazz musicians at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre, Hollywood Bowl, Royal Albert Hall and the Concertgebouw. He has also performed at the 150 year celebrations of the UNO, opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in Shanghai, opening World Economic Forum, to mention a few.

“This is just the beginning of a long journey. Golden Deer has many such musical and entertainment extravaganza up its sleeves, going forward,” says Sukant Banerjee, founder-managing director, Golden Deer.
