Kolkata: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is coming to Kolkata on Monday to meet chief minister Mamata Banerjee triggering speculation of formation of an anti-BJP platform.

After reaching the Kolkata Airport he will visit Nabanna, the state secretariat, where the meeting will be held.

According to sources, the meeting was scheduled after following a consultation between the two sides.

It may be noted that the Trinamul Congress supremo had called up  the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief on March 4 after Mr Rao called for a ‘Third front.’

Extending her support to his initiative, she assured to take his side.

Sources revealed that Mr Rao who is trying to explore the avenues of forming of the front of all regional parties has plans to discuss with Ms Banerjee about it.

He is likely to urge Ms Banerjee to lead a major role also in the formation, sources disclosed.

Significantly, neither Mr Rao nor Ms Banerjee attended UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s dinner in New Delhi recently to build an anti-BJP alliance. However Trinamool MP Sudip Bandopadhyay was present there as a representative of Ms Banerjee.

Earlier, this month Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel met the Trinamul Congress supremo in what appeared to be an endeavour to build ‘Federal Front’.

The NCP also attended Ms Gandhi’s dinner.

Last month Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti chief Hardik Patel also met Ms Banerjee. Hailing the chief minister he also offered to campaign for her party in elections in the state.
