Man, 60, beaten to death over sharing of water

New Delhi: The Delhi police on Saturday said that it has arrested three accused and apprehended one CCL (child in conflict with law) in connection with the murder of a 60-year-old man over water distribution dispute in Wazirpur industrial area.

The deceased was identified as Lal Bahadur (60), a resident of Wazirpur industrial area. According to DCP (Northwest) Aslam Khan, the three accused have been identified as Sunil, Akash, and Arvind. While the former two are drivers, the latter is a labour. One CCL has also been apprehended in this regard.  

According to the police, a PCR call was received regarding the death of a person around 3.30 pm on Saturday.

During inquiry, it was revealed that a verbal spat took place between Rohit, the son of deceased Lal Bahadur, and Sunny alias Gagan over the issue of distribution of water from water tanker.

The deceased tried to pacify the quarrel between his neighbours and his family but the four accused beat him, showering him repeatedly with fists and blows. Lal Bahadur collapsed owing to his injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
