New Delhi: The body of a woman, believed to be in her twenties, was found in a park at Rajghat area on Monday morning. The woman was in a semi-nude state and bore scratch marks on her body, leading the police to suspect she was sexually assaulted, bludgeoned her to death and dumped in the park.
The police said that the woman’s body was found inside the DTC Park at Rajghat by a security guard, who later alerted the police.
A team of Delhi police, along with a dog squad, rushed to the spot and a case has been registered.
Preliminary probe reveals that the body bore scratch marks. The police found an empty liquor bottle along with her semi-torn clothes lying near her body.
In order to destroy the identity of the woman, the assailants allegedly bludgeoned her to death.
During investigation, the probe team learnt that the woman was a beggar and used to beg in the Daryaganj area. Police suspects the woman was probably gangraped considering the crime spot and the evidences found. However, it is too early to establish the same, said the police.
A police official said the woman is believed to be aged about twenty-five years old. The jurisdictional police has detained some suspects and is questioning them in this regard.
