Gangster arrested after brief encounter

New Delhi: A gangster, wanted in Uttar Pradesh for the murder of a Ghaziabad-based builder, was arrested by the Delhi police on Saturday, after a brief encounter.

Harinder Pradhan allegedly got a builder, Moti Goyal, killed over a property dispute in Noida. Pradhan was arrested after the police teams tried to stop his car, but it sped away and hit barricades in south Delhi’s Pul-Prahaladpur on the Mehrauli-Badarpur road.

Police said that Pradhan had hired two contract killers to carry out the murder of the builder, in a brief encounter with the police, a notorious sharp shooter and the murder accused was arrested in a joint operation by Delhi police.

The team received information on Saturday that notorious UP gangster Harinder Pradhan who is involved in many heinous cases and also wanted in sensational murder case of Land Mafia Moti Goyal would be going towards Mehrauli via MB Road in a white Swift car.  Information was developed and it was found that the accused is using white Swift car bearing a Delhi number. The information was further verified.

According to the police, the notorious shooter got involved in an exchange of fire. However, the police team was able to overpower the accused.

On sustained interrogation, the accused said that he wanted to be the ‘pradhan’ of his village so he started his involvement in political activities. On April 16, he gave supari to kill 55-year-old alleged land mafia kingpin Moti Goel who was shot dead in broad daylight at a construction site at Barola T-point, near Kesar Garden.
