Going on a solo trip is every travel buff’s dream. However, travel inconveniences amplify when you’re on your own. Therefore, the most important mantra to follow on a solo trip is to pack smart rather than making it light. First and foremost, the items at the top of the priority list should provide comfort and convenience — and ideally serve more than one purpose. So, it doesn’t matter if you are obsessed with those cute strappy heels of yours; those should not be a part of your ‘things to go in the luggage’ list.

You should make sure that only efficient things find a place in the luggage and you should be able to manage the luggage single-handedly for some distance, if the need arises. Opting for a backpack is the wisest idea as it helps to keep your hands free. The other knick-knacks that cannot be avoided are — plastic bags, money belt, a good quality jacket with pockets, scarf, multipurpose shoes, emergency contact list card, customised first aid kit and some snacks that can stay fresh for a few days, among others.
