Beer pipeline laid for music festival

When it comes to the Wacken Open Air festival (WOA) in Wacken, Germany, things need to be done a tad differently.

The festival organisers announced this week that they were in the way of installing an underground beer pipeline.

When you think of heavy metal music, and a congregation of music lovers, you know there has to be gallons and gallons of beer present to satiate every one of the revellers. However, when it comes to the Wacken Open Air festival (WOA) in Wacken, Germany, things need to be done a tad differently.

The festival organisers announced this week that they were in the way of installing an underground beer pipeline, so the supply of tipple remains uninterrupted for the 75,000-odd patrons that will arrive from across the world for WOA.

“Until this year, we always had to move dozens of barrels through the infield,” the organisers explained in a blog post. “We had to bring in full barrels before and during the shows and afterwards we had to remove the empty ones. This caused a lot of avoidable traffic. The new pipeline helps us to protect the floor! And we also get rid of bottlenecks at the bar, you will not have to wait for the new barrel to be on tap anymore.”
