Applying makeup daily is a task for anyone, especially oily skinned girls. It takes a lot of time, effort and patience, not for it to have it all slide off your face the moment the temperatures increase a little.

Another disadvantage for oily skin girls is that base makeup products like concealer and foundation often emulsify with the skin’s natural oils, making your face look like a total mess by noon. Here are some tips that can help you achieve a flawless look despite oily skin:

Pay attention to skincare

We all think that makeup can cover all flaws but in reality, good skincare is the base for good makeup. It provides the perfect canvas to build your look.  Exfoliating your skin is imperative for oily skin girls. It controls excess sebum and reduces the appearance of pores.

Hydrate your skin well before makeup. It is a myth that oily skin doesn’t need moisturiser, but make sure you keep your skin plumped up. Use a gel-based moisturiser so that your skin doesn’t feel too heavy.

Minimise the product usage

Use minimal products so that there is no excess layering on the skin, Using combination products like a moisturiser along with SPF. Also contemplate if you actually need a primer. It can come helpful to those with large pores but it doesn’t really do much to difference to your final makeup look. Make sure it use it on the eye lids though, so your eyeshadow sits well on it.

Pick the right tool for makeup application

While it goes without saying that picking the right foundation shade is important, picking the tools is just as important. Use a damn sponge instead of a stippling brush so that excess oil is absorbed by the sponge. The brush can mix the oil and the foundation and give it a streaky finish.

Powder it up

This is an important step for everyone but especially for those with oily skin- set your face with powder. Set your face make up at various stages with the powder at every stage of the makeup. Pay special attention to the oily T-zones. Another little trick that works in using setting spray before putting up the foundation. It works especially well for oily skin.

Let the powder bake for a while on the face. It firms the foundation in place. Brush off the excess with a fluffy brush. Use translucent powder instead of compact so that it doesn’t have a cakey finish at the end.
