BJD MLA mistreats elderly for voting BJP

A video showing the lawmaker scornfully rejecting the fervent appeal of the elderly woman for the house has gone viral on social media.

BHUBANESWAR: BJD MLA and Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s close aide Ayub Khan has sparked off a controversy by denying a house under Indira Awas Yojana to a an elderly woman in Kantabanji in Bolangir district purely the latter’s political affiliation to BJP.

A video showing the lawmaker scornfully rejecting the fervent appeal of the elderly woman for the house has gone viral on social media. The video shows the MLA condemning the woman for supporting the BJP in rural polls held in 2017. He says the woman that her affiliation to the saffron party stands as a disqualification to avail Indira Awas House.

“You won’t get any house as you have not voted for BJD and its leader Naveen Patnaik. You have cast your ballot on lotus symbol of the BJP and hence you are ineligible to get Indira Awas House,” the MLA is seen as saying the video.

The MLA ill-treated the victim woman named Kumari Karuhan at Jhalap. The lawmaker is even seen in the video asking the lady in coarse voice to leave the place. The video shows the local people protesting the MLA’s “bad-manner” in the official meeting and urging him not behave as raw politician.
