MEA staff accuses cop, in-laws of harassment

New Delhi: A female foreign ministry official has alleged that the SHO of Patel Nagar police station misbehaved with her and also harassed her. The woman, who is fighting a matrimonial dispute with her husband and in-laws, alleged that the SHO is favouring her husband. She alleged the officer also threatened to file false cases against her if she didn’t take back her plaint.

According to sources, the woman is an office assistant in the foreign ministry. She got married to a doctor, who is a resident of Patel Nagar, on July 2016 and became pregnant in February 2017. She alleged that her mother-in-law, who is also a doctor, had asked her to get an abortion. However, she refused to comply.

Her husband and in-laws were continuously forcing her for an abortion and when she refused, they left her in Gurgaon at her parents’ home. A few days later when she retur-ned to her in-laws’ place, her mother-in-law allegedly asked their maid to beat her. The complainant made a PCR call and the matter reached the Patel Nagar police station.
