Man kills ‘wife’, injures 2 others with sword

Bhubaneswar: A youth on Monday killed his “wife” and injured two others by attacking them with a sword on a court premises in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

The deceased was identified as Sangita Choudhry. The two injured included Sangita’s mother Lalita and her 5-year-old niece Shivani. According to reports, Ramesh Kumar had kidnapped Sangita a year ago. The woman later managed to escape.

However, Ramesh, claiming the woman as his wife, alleged before a local court that her family members had confined her inside a house. The court had issued a notice to the family of the woman for an appearance for a counselling session.
