Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government has decided to implement strict austerity measures on the bureaucracy in order to curtail government expenses. Bureaucrats have been asked to curtail expenses on foreign visits, printing material and advertisements.

According to an official release, officers have been directed to utilise the resources of the state in welfare projects, restrictions have been imposed on recruitments for various depa-rtments of the government, barring the police and medical departments. Also, several benefits provided to employees like travel, accommodation, guest house, furniture, stationery, etc are also being regulated.

The government has also directed employees to not hold state-sponsored banquets in five-star hotels. Exceptions will need the approval of the chief secretary in this regard. Besides, officials have been asked to travel economy class if they have to take flights.
